Battery light stays on

I have a 2002 GMC 2500 diesel. Last week the alternator went out and drained the batteries. I replaced the alternator and charged up the batteries. I load test the batteries and they are good. At the time the alternator went out the battery light came on. The new alternator is charging the batteries and working properly, but the battery light still stays on. Is there a reset to make the battery light go off or is there still something wrong in the system.

First off welcome to the garage.

Second, I would think that the wiring might have a loose connection somewhere, or there is a wire shorted out somewhere. Chase down the wiring to see if you can find anything obvious.

Do as horsehaulin says. Could be a bad ground connection.
