Duramax EGR system

What is the purpose of people deleting the EGR system on their trucks. Would this benefit me with 4" straight exhaust, afe stage 2, bully dog pmt? my truck is throwing a dtc code refering to the egr circulation flow. The only thing I can think of that would cause this is the straight exhaust. But im not sure.

If your truck is throwing a EGR code and you have a 4" turbo back straight exhaust it is probably not registering the propper amount of back pressure. A finger stick should fix your problem. I do not have any experience with the bullydog, but I do not see where it gets rid of this code. What is the exact code?

Most people when doing exhaust usually do a EGR blocker plate and finger stick to eliminate the codes.

People that deleting the whole EGR are mainly doing it when they install aftermarket chargers.

Guess I got lucky, as so far never had any codes pop up. I do have a turbo back system running together with Superchips running the original air filter. Would that make the difference? :squish

Ok. so a finger stick will eliminate the codes. But what does blocking the egr do for performance, or does it? Thanks.

p0103 code Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit High Input. I have tried both the finger stick as well as the ppe code eliminator but still codes. Code disappears when i install ppe tuner. Turbo back exaust and blocker plate. Blocker plate keeps exaust gas from going through exaust gas recirc valve and into the air intake.

You're not recirculating the soot.

Will blocking the egr with that plate decrease mpg or harm my truck?

MPG differences in either direction will be minute, and it will not harm the truck.
