1968 GMC 2500 2WD with a 305 V6

Well, heres my truck. its a 1968 GMC 2500 2WD with a 305 V6. My grandpa ordered it brand new in 1967. He had it all the way up until 2003. He died in 2003, my father and i picked up it in 2005. and we had it ever since. the truck has 426,000 miles on it. And for those who think thte 305 is a V8 and not a V6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_V6_engine theres a link there to prove it. heres a video of what my truck sounds like.

sounds pretty good for a stock exhaust. Im sure the baffles are worn out. lol.

My best friend drives a 1967 GMC just like that but his has a 350 small block. It screams like a NASCAR because it has headers dualed out to single chamber flows with 3in tips. I have talked him into one day dropping in a 12v cummins with a p-style fuel pump.

Well, a dmax swap would be cool, However, it would be hard because of eletronics. However, my dad and i were just talking, but a 12 valve cummins I-6 would be cool. Well, theres some stuck rings in the pistons we believe. right now, its getting like 8 mpg. It used to get like 14 mpg awhile ago. But it sat for like 3 years, so.. If the engine was bad enough where we would have to put new pistons in it, we were just gonna pull the motor out and just find a used 350 small block chevy from a junkyard for $50 and rebuild it, then hopefully drop it in.

I have a 478 V-6 in my 1964 GMC 65 ramp truck, though though it has a bad shift fork in it. though I've got a 2 speed rear end with brand new Maxi cans in the back and new air lines with brand new rubber all the way around. I'm gonna add lights, chrome and a cummins 12v with an eaton 6 speed (a bit more economical). one of my many projects.

That 478 takes all I give it... including FUEL! lol that's why I'm thinking about cummins for a replacement, plus the diesel doesn't smell as obnoxious!

the current one is a 6sp though it's currently stuck in 3rd... had to tow home with my driver holding the clutch in the whole way
I've had excellent luck with the Eaton 6sp, it'll get a freightliner FL60 to... well... over 85 with a caravan and a taurus on the back full of scrap.

97 Ram 3500 2wd dually 12v ff #0 fuel plate, upgraded compressor wheel, nv 4500 rock crusher, 4.10 rear gooseneck & 5th wheel hitch... also has access to underbed repo wheel lift

94 Chevy silverado Blazer 4X4, 350, 700r4, sound system from hell... still drive the dodge mostly

US navy construction & tactical vehicle fleet -Seabee and proud of it!
