Dual Tanks

A friend of mine just bought an '06 3500 cab + chassis. It came equipped with dual tanks. I'm curious as to how this system works. I didn't see a switch in the cab to change tanks. Does the truck run off both tanks at once? Or is it a transfer setup?

Thanks

Tom
