Hey guys looking to do a motor swap here 6.5-T to a 454. . .

I have a 6.5-T that no longer runs i can't seem to figure it out. . .
So i am going to replace it with and engine that i hope will bolt right in.

So what all will it take to install a 454 into a truck with a 6.5 turbo diesel ?

I did this swap a while back. It was a straight bolt in but we used a carbureted engine and had a manual trans. The wiring is the biggest issue. If you are going with a fuel injected engine or have an automatic you will need a donor vehicle for the wire harness and ECM. Additionally the accessory mounting brackets are different. We used an 84 donor vehicle for the engine and accessories but the A/C compressor had to be left off because it hit the hood on the 96 model we installed it in.

I was thinking of an EFI motor but i did find a decent Carbed unit.
Truck dose have the auto trans.

I ordered the last set of parts for the old 6.5-T wednesday it may run it may not. i don't really care if it dose as its the last fix its going to be getting. I would like to have all the info i need to swap a 454 in as well as possibly having such parts in stock n crated up just waiting for the 6.5-T to fail. When it breaks again in the shop it goes n out the diesel comes n in the BBC goes. having everything you need in stock and ready should make it a simple bolt in plug n play unit.
