Question 2006 GMC 2500 HD LBZ Duramax Extended Cab or 2007 Dodge Mega Cab 5.9L Cummins?

2006 GMC 2500 HD LBZ Duramax Extended Cab or 2007 Dodge Mega Cab 5.9L Cummins?
I need your help to decide, without causing a war against Dodge & Chevy Fans.
Im in a wheelchair, I have to drive a van for 16 yrs, until it caught on fire raking corn to bail, it was a Chevy with 350 gas, 175,000 miles. I have been wanting to get into a truck which is very hard, but now I have a choice between 2 trucks GMC or Dodge to put a wheelchair conversion in so I can drive.

I bought the GMC in 2006 brand new and it has only 3000 miles on it, loaded LT, with 7yr 70,000 mile warranty; I would still need to put a lift kit, bigger tires, chip, bigger exhaust, air intake and ranch hand bumpers.
They thought my wheelchair would not fit in it so I went out and bought a 2007 Dodge Megacab so I could transfer into driver seat.
The Dodge has 30,000 miles and what is left on regular warranty, 6 suspension, Motto wheels w/ 37 inch tires & ranch hand bumpers w/winch, loaded Laramie. I would still need to install bigger exhaust, chip, and air intake.

I live on a small farm, I take cattle to market, rake hay/corn, go to farm auctions and plane to have a little fun to which is why a truck is nice. I have been waiting 19 yrs to drive a truck once again; I plan to have this truck for 10-15 years. Now they have figured out a way for me to get in both, to drive from my wheelchair, which is good news, but now I have to choose. I now it depends on what you like, which I am a Chevy man, but I have never owned a diesel, my 2 boys both own Dodges 5.9L & 6.7L, due to good deals, even though theyre both Chevy men, but they have never owned a Duramax.

If anyone can help me decide pros & cons on which one would work the best for long run with personal experience or technical knowledge that would be great!

Thanks for your time! Don

Well, based on your sons vehicles and your GMC, which offers you the most room, easier to get in/out of, controls in better postions, etc? Which suspension is better suited to your needs, based on you saying you'd have to lift the GMC?

Nothing wrong with either truck's drivetrain. LBZ/6 speed Alli are proven, as are 5.9/Flite.

In the end, its all your decision. Heck, make up a pro/con list if need be.
