Question LB7 or LLY What to buy

I am looking to buy a truck (actually for my wife). Being the die hard Chevy guy I am, nothing else will do

In my decision making process I would value the opinions of those who have owned these trucks in the past or present. From what little I have read it seems as though the LB7's get a little better mileage than the LLY models. Am I correct in this assumption?

The truck will be used as a daily commuter for my wife. The round trip for her is 34 miles. It will also be used weekly to haul a 3 horse slant load horse trailer, with usually no more than 2 horses in it. Most of the hauling is around town here, with occasional long hauls maybe twice a year.

I don't know if I'll ever get into the tuning part of the truck as she doesn't really care about performance, but if I can get better mileage by doing it, then I will look into it.

Thanks.
1 - LB7 (2001-2004.5)
2 - LLY (2004.5-05)

Welcome to the site. Be sure to fill out a new member intro thread and say hello to everyone.

As for trucks, I would suggest the LB7. They have had few problems and are overall very reliable. Some have had problems with injectors but they are few and far between, and may be still under warranty. The LLY is a good engine as well, but it too has had some problems.

well I would suggest an '06-'07 LBZ. They are becoming very well priced and most still have a little bit of a power train warranty.

I would side with these guys, either an LB7 or an LBZ, either way you cant go wrong, both very reliable trucks, but the LBZ has lots of power stock

Yeah its a change going from the lumber wagon Dodge to the Chevy. I know my bro Brightwhiteram says that while he loved his Dodge, he loves his Chevy even more.
