The different years have different HP/TQ ratings.

The LB7's are known for injector issues, but they are covered under a 7yr. 200K mile warranty.

They should blow a 6.5 out of the water.

I know each year has different ratings i wanted to know them all. I am sure it should blow the 6.5 away, But i would just like to get some info before i buy another diesel truck thats problematic and makes me WISHED i would have just gotten the Big GASSER as the 6.5-T is making me wish i had gotten the 454 instead. . .

Educate me guy's I want to know it all troubles failures pros cons ECT i wanna know the good the bad and the ugly of the DURAMAX diesel.

Well, they incrementally increase power over the years the LB7 started with 330hp and 550Tq??(not sure on the torque)The lmm is rated at 365hp and 650tq. The LB7's have injector issues but a lot have already had them changed, they have a waste gated turbo and 5 speed Allison and optional manual trans and no egr. The LLY's have overheating issues due to a poor intake design but there is a fix for that by swapping in a LBZ intake piece, they have the Variable Geometry/Vane Turbo and 5 speed Allison and egr. The LBZ has the least amount of issues, has the six speed Allison, VV turbo, egr and has no dpf. The LMM also hasn't show a lot of issues yet, it has the 6 speed Allison, VV tubo, egr and diesel particulate filter. The LLY, LBZ and LMM have had issues of Transmission lines leaking at the cooler in cold weather due to a poor fitting design, but there is a fix for it. There is not lift pump, the CP3 draws fuel by vacuum from the tank, so when you put more power to the truck the fuel rail will starve but a fass or airdog or a lift pump fix that issue. The Allison is great stock, if you put more than 100hp over stock you start slipping clutches. But stock you shouldn't have many issues. If you put more than 700hp to the Allison you will more than likely break input and output shafts. The transfer case has an issue and I can't remember what with out looking it up, but there is a fix for that as well. if you do a four wheel launch the tie rods flex and could break, so tie rod sleeves or bigger tie rods fix that. to get more flex out of the front end and level it, upper A arms and longer shocks.

Most guys who buy a duramax love them, but the '04.5-05 LLY is usually the one to avoid, its kind of like the red headed step child of duramax's.
