2 stroke oil?

Do any of you gm guys run the 2 stroke mix? Is it needed and do you have any fuel filter issue's? My boss has an 08 duramax and has had fuel filter issues in the past while up north. Just a thought on cold weather? Sorry long winded

I didn't have any issues with it. I didn't notice any benefits either, though.

Do you run anything to combat the "dry" fuel? I know noise wise in my 7.3l it helps. But the duramax's arent anywheres near as noisey. Do you think the gm's are fussy on the filter side of thing's? Or good right until they need to be changed. I know they need "regular" changes.

Really you won't see that much improvement, if any, with 2-stroke in a Duramax. I run Opti-Lube XPD and I get decent but not great results, https://www.thedieselgarage.com/forum...ad.php?t=89099

2-stroke works great in my Cummins and I like a little extra lube for my 130K mile VP44.

I run 10-15K on a filter just to make myself a bit more comfy. I think the meter in the dash goes to around 17-20K, depending.

You're welcome. I run a 15K Oil Change interval. Amsoil with a dual remote/bypass setup.

Mike I run 7500 send in a sample and change the full-flow filter. At 15K I change oil and both filters and send in a sample. So far so good. I may cut it back to 12K if this last sample comes back with funny numbers.

what your boss may need is a diesel fuel anti-gel agent(or anti-waxing) in cold temps diesel will wax up and wont flow at all, its best to use anti-gel if temps are even 5-10 degrees above freezing, and definately when they dip below freezing

If your boss wants to use 2-stroke oil make sure he uses the stuff intended for Snowmobiles, it will have additives that will help with anti-waxing, increases the "pour point" of the fuel

Right i agree on the oil for sleds. All the trucks at work run the same fuel and no anti gel. Just the blended fuel the fuel company delv. No problems ever. Had a couple filters plug up in the summer. Just needed to be changed earlier. No he keeps a spare in the truck. Occasionally though it gets pretty cold.
