Plastic Fuel Fliter??

I just picked up a set of filters for my truck on the weekend (WIX FUEL, OIL) and i opened the box of the fuel filter and its plastic... anyone else ran into one of these things yet?? the last WIX fuel filter i bought was about 8-10 months ago and it was steel housing, so why did they change to the composite plastic?

Anybody got any insight on this?

Edit: Link to the Filter http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlook...asp?Part=33960

One word, cost. Plastic is cheaper. I have used the Wix filters in the past, but not since they changed, went back to ACDelco.

Picked up a Racor for the Silverado. Looks an awful lot like the ACDelco....

I'll report back when I install it.
