Cool looking to buy a new truck need advice, mpg questions

I am looking to buy a truck to pull a 30ft travel trailer. I am looking for anything between 95-05. Must be a crew cab and preferably an automatic(it will also serve as a spare vehicle and my wife can't drive stick... tried to teach her once but stopped while I still had hair left). Brand doesn't really matter but dependability does. I like the looks of the early 2000 Ford F250's and Dodge rams.GM OWNERS HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO BRAG AND CHANGE MY MIND... I will probably only use it to pull the trailer and drive it now and them just to keep it up.(My current truck I've had for about 5 years and only put 15k mile on it). What should I look for as far as common problems and what are you guys getting for fuel economy, daily and while towing, with your trucks? Thanks in advance to everyone who responds.

Well, you'll want to look at '01-'07 Chevy/Gm 2500/3500, '95-'00 are the old 6.5L. The '04-'07 trucks would be worth considering since they have more power for pulling the pinnacle being the '06-'07 LBZs.

Need to know more like budget, amenities, ect. LLY (04.5-05) is good all around motor with minor easy fix probs. LBZ (06-07 classic) is also a great powerful motor without all the EPA BS. Little less mileage than previous. Mileage is different for each person but expect ~16+- city and ~20 +- hwy. Towing maybe ~14 depending on weight and driving habits. Do a search on it as it greatly varies and previous numbers could not represent an accurate figure for you. Upgrades change that number too.

As for looks......looks arent everything. Remember back in the day when you dated that hot *** chick but she was such a PITA? Yea same goes for trucks. Chevy rides the best by far. Allison trans in awesome but needs built with power as do all trans. Its all personal preference and what you can find at the time. I wouldnt go Ford but thats just me. The 7.3L was a good motor but Im not a fan of the newer motors. The Cummins is a bad *** motor but Im not a fan of the Dodge interior or ride comforts.

Thats just my opinion...take it for what its worth

If it is just a part time driver i would suggest the 7.4/8.1L truck's lots of power great running long last dependable truck's The 5.7/6.0L are fine truck's as well

the 5.7/6.0 trucks will burn a slight bit less fuel empty but due to the lack of high cubed grunt they will burn a bit more fuel under a heavy pull

If its a truck that will be doing some sitting i would look more into a Gasser as diesel's really don't like sitting they want to get out on the open road and run . . .

06-07LBZ gets my vote.... 360hp/650tq, no DPF, and you can get 17-20mpgs, i am currently getting 18mpg and thats hwy/town mixed, and i have a HEAVY foot, however i am also tuned, i was getting 15ish MPG with the same driving style and no tune
