Fog light/auto head light mod?

Your how to forum is looking pretty sad.
So being the helpful Ford guy that I am, : Would like to help you guys out........
Help ME, help YOU!

Now that I am finished poking..

My wife has a 2002 Tahoe with auto lamps and fogs.
Does any body know how to wire them togeather so the "cool guy" fogs come on with the auto head lights without having to push the dash button every time...
A Schematic would be a great help!
Heck, if someone can cough up with an electrical cartoon for me, I will do a Chevy how to post!!!: And you wouldn't want a FORD guy doing that.....Would you? Be careful, Ford will ooze over here too if you don't step to the plate!!
Thanks guys!

I would venture to guess that by tapping into the head light wire, adding a diode, then tapping into the fog light wire, adding a diode, and hooking the two togther would do what you want. Anytime the headlights are on the fog lights would be on too, whether auto activated or not. Here's the thing I don't understand mr Ford owner, why do you need the fog lights on all the time? It has always been my understanding that Fog lights were only to be used under Foggy conditions... The rest of the time they are an annoyance for other drivers on the road, just like those blue headlights IMO.

I would like them on because we both find the head lights to be dim.
Yes they are adjusted properly and my wife and I feel they illuminate the lines better along with the side of the road. The Tahoe's low beams are very dim compared to my Ford, honestly I am not poking. We drive on many country roads and have had numerous close calls.
I am sorry you are annoyed by it.. We do not do it to offend.
They are also called driving lights on occasion.

Would you care to elaborate on your post? Wire colors, Schematics, pics?
Why would you add diodes?

I understand where you are coming from, compared to Ford Gm's lighting is somewhat substandard. I was just giving a general idea of what would need to be done. I don't have any wiring diagrams or things of that nature or I would provide you with them. If my pickup had fog lights I would be more than happy to trace down some wires and try it out. I would add the diodes so power could only flow one way so say the headlights are on, then power wouldn't be going back up to the fog light switch. It's just something I've seen done on mods of this sort. What's a good program to draw things out? If I find a good program I'll try and draw a pic of what I'm thinking. Are you satisfied with the performance of the high beams?

BTW, I wasn't trying come off as disgruntaled. There are just certain things that I don't personally care for while driving, but if it's not illegal then I don't really have much room to complain.

I am not sure what program is good for drawing things out, i'm still learning new things about my computer every day!

Thank you! I will look forword to seeing that drawing! :thanks:
What size diode? It sounds like a good idea!

The high beams are okay but, both of us agree not the best...

No offence taken, it's all good! :thanks:

See, not ALL Ford guys are BAD! : :roflmao:

I did a all headlight on mod on my 02, just used a scotchlock on a wire under the BCM & ran the other wire out to a ground. Let me know if anybody wants the details on how to do it.

Get a headlight booster kit from painless wiring or kennedy diesel with some silverstars or whatever your ultrawhite tastes are...you'll be putting a lot more power to them and it will make the ford look dim...

then you won't need the fogs on all the time...
