.....and then there is the all on headlight mod.
Fogs and lows
Fogs, lows and High's
for those that wish to do so...you need to make a very small little harness and solder it to a cpl of the relay's in your main Fuse box under the hood. This diagram is for the GMC/Chev 2500HD's...but I am sure it is applicable to most GM trucks and many GM products....and very likely the same logic could be used for Fords/Dodge products as well...just need to find out which relays operate which lamps and do the same thing. I would think that those that manufacfture automative relays may well do so for all three of the Detroit automakers.
I too find std headlamps to be dim (mind you, now they are HID's)..but still, I find to have the fogs on at same time as the Lows makes a huge difference to my aged eyes.
Anyway, one needs to use 2 diodes (Radio Shack PN's 1N4001 or 1N4004), in this schematic with both diodes having the cathode end which is the silver tipped end of the diode pointing towards the HiBeam relay on pin 85. So from Pin 85 on the fogs and pin 85on the lows...both gotto pin 85 on the highs. It should also be quite possible to have your Drl's included in this as well by adding a diode to its relay as well.
Then try it out...push in your fog light...on it comes, turn on your lows...on they come....then flick your hi beams and instead of the fogs and lows shutting off, they all stay on.! "Kewl" you say..!! if they do not stay on, then it is likely you have your diodes in the wrong way.
And the Lord said let there be Light, and Moses the head electrician flicked the switch and by Jesus, you could see for frickin miles..!!
Note: This is not something I invented..I'm just putting all the info into one post so that it makes it easy for those of you that do intend to do so, not have to run all over hells creation to find the info. Nods to UNIT453 for this info.
