cr125 problems

ok, its not my bike. a guy from work wanted me to take a look at it so here i am. it seems as tho its running out of fuel in the bowl but not. it runs good(i think its a '01?), has a good powerband. not used to the little 2stroke powerband as i ride a built 426f but it runs good. then, after a little while you will be going and it will seem to bog down like its running out of gas. so let off for a little and its fine. which makes me think it could be emptying the bowl(stuck bowl, clogged line, etc) but then sometimes ill get on it, it'll pull hard then bog down and if i stay on the throttle a sec or 2 later it will hit hard like its already wound up. doesnt make sense. then i rode it more and it seemed to want to bog more and more as i rode it. mind you, i cant ride it for too long as the cops will probably show up. does anybody have any idea of what i may be?

I had my ATV do that. If you have not changed any thing (adjustments) in the carb, then I would take it apart and clean it out real good. Usually junk / dirt gets in there, clean the air filter and changes the sparkplug, check fuel line for full flow. Trash gets in side the tank as well. Post and let me know what happens

ALSO make sure the vent tube for the tank isnít clogged (it happens)

yeah, the carb and all was supposed to have been cleaned by a shop. i just told him i dont want to touch it. he should take it back to the shop and make them fix it since they were told that it "runs great" yet it doesnt.

Could be a TON of things. Sounds like dirt in the carb and sometimes its getting sucked up through the main jet. Also could be the float hieght being too low and sucking air into the main jet. Or it could be ignition related. I would pull the float bowl off and make sure no dirt is in there and then pull out the pilot and main jet and blow it out with brake clean.

yeah, thats what it sounds like. but then it doesnt act like that. i was going to check the bowl to make sure it was adjusted properly then make sure it wasnt sticking but it doesnt seem like that when you ride it. it will bog down like its out of fuel then within a sec or so it will hit hard like you turned a switch on. petcock and feed line seems to be flowing just fine. im not a large 2 stroke guy so its going to the shop.
