The best place to get methanol is at a place that makes washer fluid.
The price jumps around just like all other fuels, and like all other fuels the price is stupid right now.
I have been qouted between $ 2.79 and 4.00 + per gallon when buying in 55 gal drums, depending on the market.

I gave up on bio production because the price of methanol drove the price close to $ 2.00 a gallon to produce. It was not worth my time or effort for such a small savings.

Also, NaOH/KOH pricing varies as well. Unless you have a connection or a chemical supplier who will sell to you, good luck finding a reasonably priced supply in the quantity you need for production.

I dont want to turn you off from bio production, but the chemical costs are way too high right now.
