WEO compared to Bio diesel brewing:

I didn't want to hijack another thread with my questions, so here goes. I am looking at either brewing my own bio or using weo, the weo option looks easier and much safer to handle from the research I have been doing so far. Will my 2001 7.3 have any problems with weo use? I also think weo will be easier to get my hands on as well as not having to worry about finding a source for the methanol and the veggie oil. With diesel hitting $4.00 a gallon here today and them telling us it's going to go higher I need to do something as I lost my job of 24 years due to my back injury and have been put on long term disability. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks, Gene :mafia

the only problem iv'e had so far is that it's messy and little hard to pump.iv'e run it 6000 miles in my 96 7.3 f350 .i use 75% waste oil filtered to 10 microns. so far iv'e changed the fuel filter on the truck once not because it was cloged ijust figured it was time . i'm sure the thicker oil causes more stress to the fuel pump so it's a good idea to keep it flowing freely through the fuel filter.the truck runs much quieter on oil.it's not always easy to find enough oil but so far iv'e gotten enough.

With the cost fo oil starting to soar, its going to get harder to find WEO. We have a WEO heater in our shop and we have a very hard time finding supply sources around here. Oil collection companies are buying it for good $ these days. Good luck finding the WEO.

I have 2 buddies that work at dealerships, I don't know if I will be able to get it from them or not but I'm going to try. Also have 3 fire dept. real close and the county garage is close also so I will try all of these to see if I can get some. If I can get just some from each of them it should be enough. I also have several farms around me so maybe I could get it from them also. I just want to be sure it is not going to be detrimental to my engine if I go this route. Thanks, Gene :mafia

The filter on the 7.3 is a 7 micron filter. You can easily and fairly inexpensively filter the weo down to 2 micron. I don't see how that would damage the injectors when mixed with #2, biodiesel or wvo.

One of the things I'm most worried about is, it seems if I go this route that the carbon buildup would increase substantially in the engine which we all know is not a good thing. Any thoughts on this or would the #2 fuel dilute it enough that this would not be a problem? I don't know, I'm searching for answers. I suppose you could run some Biodiesel through it occasionally to clean it out good, anyone care to chime in? Gene :mafia

Let me know how your truck likes it. I'm guessing you're going the WEO way then also? Gene :mafia
