I'm thinking about getting a Kodiac 4500 D/A 4x2 crew cab.
What I'm wondering is if there are any special tunes or if anyone has written any on EFI to work with the med duty engine calibration? also how hard would it be to unlock the extra gear on the allison as they dont seem to offer the "six speed" in the 45-5500.
I dont want to get crazy with it........ much, bit will definately be bored with bone stock. I'd consider doing some programing and brobably and aftermarket turbo like BD sells. Any help?
Only thing I've seen for 06's is from PPE, not sure if it's a new computer flash, or the duramaximizer. Appearantly, the 06 has a different connector plug than the 05 & earlier.
I don't think that tranny has a 6th gear in there unless they have made some drastic changes. Some of the bigger ones, the 3000 and 4000 series, do and have the 6th gear locked out and it can be "unlocked".
I don't have my books in front of me but the medium transmissions and the larger ones both have the same gear system. They have 4 different planetaries IIRC therefore getting 6th gear is just a matter of applying the proper 2 clutches.

That is true from what GM has told us. '07 brings changes to both motor and tranny though.
