Lost stud & nut from rear hub on rear axle

I was running my IH a lot yesterday and noticed a hole in my hub where there's supposed to be a stud screwed in and a nut on the end of the stud.

Not a lug nut, but one that holds the cap & seal on the end of the axle hub.

OK to keep driving? I would think it'll be fine. It's not losing any oil since the seal is still tightly in place.

Also, on my other rear wheel, there's a "spray" of grease/oil spots around the circumference of the budd wheel. Does this mean the hub seal is shot?

With all of the bolts on the end of that axle you should be fine duke..I'd find a new bolt for it sooner than later though....

and yep, sounds like you have a seal leaking on the other side..

OK, just as I thought. Thanks for the back-up!

Scary when you lose something like that off your truck. You hope it hasn't damaged anyone's car!!

Hmmm, sounds like you found out why your axle flange was leaking...

Some of them had issues with this. Get some new studs and nuts and GREEN loctite. They will be in there for a while
