Engine was cheap.. reman with only 30k on it for $1500. Adapter plate and flex plate, still haven't gotten a bill, should be inline with the cummins adapters. I hope to get this all done cheaper than an average 5.9 cummins conversion or around the same cost so that people have a different choice....

An adpapter plate? sure anything is possible.... I belive the 408 is bigger in size maybe built on the 466 block?

I think you're right. I think it is near the 466 block.

The DT408 IS a DT466 (NGD varient) with a shorter stroke but sharing the same bore, head and block. Only made for 2.5 years (1994-1996.5).
