Can it be done?

how much work would be involved in swapping a 24v cummins into a 1995 dodge ram 1500.

Not too bad, be even easier if you swapped the whole chassis under your sheet metal...

Guy on PavementSucks.com did it. It does take a lot of work but it can be done.

Wiring actually isn't too bad, depending which version and how much automatic function is desired.

The workhorse: 86 F250 6.9 4 speed 4wd 4.10 gears, electric fuel pump
The other workhorse: 92 F350 2wd crew cab, 92 6BT Cummins, NV4500 and GV overdrive unit, 4.10 rear axle

I don't think the wiring is too bad if you have a complete donor truck and you swap everything over. But you never know....

EDIT: Guy on PS.Com (SuperHawk2002) did a 12v swap, not a 24v so I'm sure there will be more wiring to do in your case.
