i need to know what resistor to use to trick the hpop ito thinking it doesnt have enough pressure and bumping it up to the point of lobe idleing. this is for sled pulling purposes only.

The sensor I use the 'trick the HPOP into thinking it doesn't have enough pressure' is a Dp-Tuner. LOL

What exactly are you talking about.

well i have used a 10k ohm one. It idles somewhat like a big block with a mild cam, i have heard that if you go with different values. (lower resistance??) that you get an extremely "cammy" idle, and the engine skip fires excessively like a big block with loads of cam, basically it advances the timing a whole hell of a lot.

I suppose you could get your self a 7.5k ohm 1/2 watt resistor, and a 12.5 or so one, and just try them both. I have heard of people using as high at a 15k and as low as a 3.5 k

Take that with a grain of salt though, my info might not be gospel truth, as i have only used 10k....

I have built the following for a couple of guys that do sled pulling:

A special version of the 18K+ that allows you to increase the pressure and keep it at max.
A lock/unlock Torque conevrter module with 3 LED's. The Idea here is to keep the PCM from locking the TC and bogging the truck down during a pull.

Let me if I can be of any help.

i was actually unde rth eunderstanding that lowering the resistance of the 10k mod increased the hpop by fooling it that it was lower, rather than giving it more resistance.

Is that special 18k anything like the one I had you special build for me a while back?

With our SP Stage I SE we can write a tune to the chip that will far surpass the controllability of any analog device. IF you want to jack up your pressure for drags or sleds, you can do so, if you want to pull it down for whatever reason you can do so as well.

You can try and swap resistors on the fly like that or you can push buttons.

You can use a simle POT from radio shack in place of the fixed 10K resisiter, this will give ya range of every any resistance from 0-(whatever value your pot is). The 10K doesn't advance timing, that would be the EOT mod.

i know its not very accurate, i just listen to the engine to find where i want to run it at. And most imoprtant in cost about a grand total of $6.

HPOP gauge is fairly cheap. $20 for the gauge and about $20 more for the high pressure line. Mine is my cab(ya I know, not smart) for well over a year. Once you get your setting, remove your gauge and loan it out to a fellow PSD owner!

Side Note: My pressure line is good for 18,000psi burst, 6000psi continuous!
