My 2002 dodge automatic will not allow me to launch my truck over 2000rpm because it defuels. What can i do to overide my computer? open for sugestions.

You could buy a anit-defueling device from a company of your choice. I know you can get one through Scheid Diesel or Haisley Machine. Its plugs into your boost sensor plus it help your HP and TQ by 10%(or so they say). Or you could buy a computer box, like a comp. I have no experience with a A.D.D. so anyone please corrst me if I'm wrong...

I have a BD R.A.D. Racers Anti Defueler. I'm not a huge fan, because it throws codes a lot, and I've had some issues with my dash gauges going out. As far as power goes it doesn't really increase it much if any, however if you are racing it is a nice addition. My Edge drag comp defuels at 3300 RPM and I believe its the same for the manuals, but I haven't run one in a manual so I couldn't tell you. That is where I would start though, if I were you, you get so much more through a fueling box than an anti defueler.

Get a fueling box. I doubt you will be launching at 3200 or 3300, so they should be sufficient. If you are then you are really ruining your tranny with heat, unless you don't stay staged for very long.

Right bc you would have to tap your pump wire with the comp like you did with your APB. Also I see you have a EZ I didnt think you could use your APB in conjuction with your EZ bc you have to plug both into the MAP sensor?

I'm not really familiar with the APB, Is it a timing box, or strictly a fueling box. I know a redline can be stacked with a Drag comp and you have to tap the wire with both of those boxes. If the APB is a wire tapping box, then your best bet is to probably get something like a smarty or A.D.D. and some injectors.

To me it sounds like you have sufficently upgraded fueling, just not upgrade fueling range. The smarty or an A.D.D. will extend fueling and smarty also increases bottom end fueling. I didn't realize you had a fueling box, with that knowledge, the least expensive route is the A.D.D.

yeah, my A.D.D. messes up the cluster all the time, I don't even run it any more unless I'm going to the track. The smarty shouldn't have that problem though. Anti Defueling Devices tap generally splice into VSS and Tach Signal wire and then change the signal on the output side, to the ECM. The fact that you are cutting and splicing wires is very bad in and of its self.

With my BD unit, they supplied connectors that were much to large for the gauge wire being used, and would disconnect, causing my gauges to go out, the truck to stumble at idle, and even die at any given throttle position. Everytime you use the device, it will throw up trouble codes and I've lost other gauges because of it as well.

Smarty on the other hand, is a programmer, it puts a different program in your stock ECM telling the computer to let the truck fuel longer, change fuel curves, reset and correct speedo and ABS, and displays and I believe clears trouble codes as well.

I wouldn't recommend an A.D.D. If you are racing a lot and don't want to shell out the cash for a smarty or red line and want to fuel into really high Rpm on the line, then they'll do the job, but if you're daily driving it, they are not worth the hassle, I didn't have to pay for mine and I still don't think it was worth it.

So a smarty is like a Superchips programmer then?
Yes and no. Actually the Superchips really isn't even close.

The Smarty has 9 levels of programming. Odd levels are timing and even levels are fuel. Atleast I think that how it goes, might be the other way around. It also is a diagnostic code reader, you can clear codes, and you can also reprogram your speedo so it is accurate with larger size tires.

Well to kind of clear it up a little, it has 4 different catcher upgrades, soft, mild, medium and hard, essentially. They offer different levels of fueling, and different fuel curves as well. There is also a fuel efficeny mode. Each of the 4 catcher upgrades is offered either with or without timing advances, this makes it stackable with a box that already does timing, i.e. an edge comp/drag comp, or EZ.

4 catchers with timing + 4 catchers without timing + 1 fuel economy mode equals 9 programs. So you will essentially only get 5 programs, its just whether or not you use the timing advances provided for by the smarty.
