Just wanted to say hello to everyone since I will be hangin out here.

As far as the tuner question, I have a 2002 7.3l and I am just looking for some more umph. I dont race my truck so I am not looking for some $600 chip. I have read up on Bullydog, SCMT, and I have also looked up DP since I have seen it mentioned. The DP looks like its in my price range, but I was wondering if the SCMT 1705 for $300 is worth it to get?? Like I said, I dont race I just want some more SOTP experience and a bigger smile when I drive. I am on a budget and that is my main problem, its a low one.

you can pick up some reasonable power adding from a single program chip you just don't have the benefit of being able to change programs on the fly.

Depending on what if anything you tow will help give us an idea of what you should look for as far as a used chip since quite a few guys are upgrading chips to flipchips leaving you with a great bargain if you're looking for a bit of extra power on the cheaper side.

BEFORE you add the chip please spend the $$ to put guages in so you won't damage your motor.

Thanx everyone. I am gonna get the gauges b4 I install the chip. I do not tow anything and dont plan on it either. I dont mind spending like $400 on one of those 4 pos. DP chips but if I can save some money better. I dunno if I really care for the diff. power levels. How important is that or usefull?? I recieved a PM from Tim@P.I.S. Anyone know about his chips??? Any feedback??

I had an SCMT tri-tune on my truck. I really liked what it did for the truck. It made my 99 an all new truck. $300 for a new one is a pretty good price. I haven't heard anything from Tim @ P.I.S so I have no opinion there...though I don't think he is a site sponsor.

What do you plan on doing with the truck. Towing...street fun...work? All these will play into what you need. I upgraded to a 6-pos chip so that I could flip between tow and "smoke out the punk" settings at will. With a tuner...it takes a bit of time to change the programs. But a tuner is practically undetectable to the dealership...while a chip can be spotted fairly easily.

Either one will put a very hard to wipe off grin on your face.

I did previously state that I do not tow, and dont think I will. I just want a go fast setting and maybe a really go fast setting. I think I will go with a chip. I am gonna try to do a lot of homework while I get my gauges.

What mods do you have, maybe post them in your sig. As for the chip, I would start at the top by contacting twildman on this site. If you spend money elsewhere you are just delaying the inevitable. A good four pos. is not that expensive for what you get in return, he can even do custom shift parameters or whatever-his programs are very well liked.
