Brought my 6.7L home today. Very stoked. White, QCLB, 4x4, stick, 3.42's, slt.

Are there any problems that result from running the Jake too much or from everyday driving type use? I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions as I get more familiar with it. I'm curious to see how far off my over head read out is. Currently its reading about 14.5mpg, and I've gone about 120miles on a 1/4tank.

Locked ECM if you add a tuner or chip or programmer that changes the paramaters of the ecm any!

Gotcha. Well, my plans are to leave this one stock, and have a nice reliable truck for the family. Although the 6.7 seems to be capable of some pretty impressive power, and the one my friend has is pretty freakin sweet. I have to exercise self control and leave this one stock for a while. The 24v is the modded one.

Good deal just make sure your build date is not after 3/09 or you wont be happy, in case you get a wild hair.

:whs

Build date is 01/09 so I should be good then. So does the locked ECM mean programmers won't work, or are they just limited in what parameters they can change, or is it that it won't go back to stock settings?

Yep you nailed it on the head it will completely lock the truck not good cause then you gotta get a new ecm and that chit is not cheap. This what i have been reading on CF might wanna go check it out but sounds like your good though no worries :thumbsup

The Dodge Bulletin that I have said truck will not start or it will be in a safe mode and dealer will have to reflash ECM

#15 ·
Cool still wont be cheap to reflash and they might just take a huge chit on your warranty to while its in there

WOW. Never saw this coming, never knew you were considering it. You gotta at least work towards an EGR delete. Using the jake prevents the vanes from hanging up, so you are better off using it vs not using it! 3.42's ! NICE!

EDIT: We gotta see picks of both Cummins now.

Yep yep. I was toying with the Idea for a little while, then I was happy enough with the price I got, that I decided to go ahead and go for it.

So far I am extremely happy with the truck. Just took it for a 450mile trip to day. 90% freeway, about 1/2 flat and half going up and over the Sierras twice. cruising 65-70 my over head has me at 19.2mpg and I'm going to check it for accuracy tomorrow. When I checked it for my around town driving, it seemed very close. If I can pull that out of a completely stock truck with under 1000miles on it, I am very pleased as it should increase with time, and with an EGR delete and opening up the torque tube.

Between the Air box and the compressor inlet. I know thats what AFE calls them anyways.

On the plus side, my overhead seems to be accurate so far. Pulled a hand calc'd 19.1 running 65-70mph unloaded on the highway. I am really stoked on this truck so far.

ya philly its just a restricter cross looking tube that goes in there really pointless but it restricts a little

#21 ·
rip it out makes a difference at speed and you can hear your turbo spool

#25 ·
Yeah, those discs are huge. And having a 11.50" ring gear is not bad either. I'm not sure what the Dana 70 in my 24v was, but I know I have a set of axles out of a superduty sitting in the shop, and they are only 10.25". Heck even a new tundra has a 10.50".

Ya axles keep on getting bigger. Your Dana 70 has a 10.50" ring gear but the axle shafts are thicker in your D-70 1.5" vs. 1.43". I'm not sure that matters much though being the 11.50 AAM axle shafts are made from 1541 alloy steel.

Nice truck dude!!

#29 ·
Thanks man. I'm really happy with the truck so far, its a nice configuration. And if I drive really reserved, I can pull 15-16mpg around town.

That truck needs wheels and tires in a BAD way.

Other than that, looks awesome!!
Yeah, it at least wants a leveling kit, tires, and some of that chrome stuff gone.

Sean you are too spoiled, a bad@ss 24v and now a brand new truck. I wish I had your toys...
