ok, here goes... i have an 8500lb 5er im towing from north east north carolina to nothern nj, not much in the way as far as hills/grades. i generally use my 80economy tune for daily driving, been meaning to get a tow tune, but i havent really had the money/ wasnt a priority, till i found out im moving the camper next tuesday. i have no pyro. is this going to cause any problems or should i run it on the stock setting. i have as of right now, no start/80e/stock/120race. thanks in advance.
ps- i have diy intake/ 4"straight pipe:thinking

Wow...without the aid of a pyro...I personally wouldn't risk it.

Odds are you would be ok...but lately the odds have been kicking my tail LOL LOL

I towed in my 80e program all the time when I had it and now tow in my 120 race program with my 5th wheel. I have never seen over 1150* F but I had a GTP 38R and now am using a ported ATS shroud, an 1.00 exhaust housing with the Banks wicked wheel. I don't know what you have for a turbo but I guess I wouldn't recommend it without gauges either you just never know. As the old addage says {Better safe than sorry}. Gene

Do you have an auto or manual? I know that Jody said the 80E has different shift points and everything, and isn't intended to be a tow program especially with an auto but people still use it for that sometimes. It has more timing to help with mileage, so it's not the best tune to "beat" on your truck with.

The only weight we will recommend towing in the 80E is under 5k. The reason is our 1/2 ,3/4, and 1 ton trucks have good torque stock, but when you go up in load weight you are running the risk of elevating EGT's. This why we have so many tow tunes for so many different load weights.

80 tow or even the 60 tow is what I would get for the 2 types of terrain you will be driving thru. The 80 tow for flat lands and the 60 tow for the rolling hills through PA.

When I ordered mine and talked to Jody he told me not to worry about getting a 80T for my 8000lb trailer.. he side just use the 80E and go to the 60T if it starts getting hot. now your saying to not use the 80E? if I would have been told this then I would have got a 80T.
