A buddy of mine wants to rebuild his turbo and when he does he wants to put the beans 1.0 compressor housing, Well he wants to know how much lag the turbo will have when he does if any because he dosent want alot more than the stock turbo..
he has a late 99 early 00 with 140,000 miles and he has a 80 h.p. superchip
why not just buy an upgraded turbo? if he doesn't have the tools or measuring equipment to rebuild the turbo right i wouldn't do it. with 140,000 miles it would be better to replace it with a rebuilt or upgraded one, that way the hole thing is new not just the housing.
Im not a fan of them but the ball bearing turbos have less lag on stock set ups from my point of view. Injectors make the diference more than anything!:smoke
I have the 1.15 non wastegated housing (from Bean's) on my van turbo and I have no complaints. I have a 6-speed and there is noticable lag but not enough to bug me. With an auto tranny it is not as much of an issue. I am considering trying the 1.0 housing on my turbo...
My wife drives a 2002 PSD with an auto tranny and when her turbo needs to be replaced it will be with one of those Bean's turbos with the 1.0 non-wastegated housing. Just waiting for a reason now...
