I replaced the original 350 V8 gas engine with a 1984 6.2 diesel engine the J model. Truck is all fiberglass except the cab and tailgate. I'm running a 700r4 overdrive transmission with a 2.73 rear gear. Truck gets 30 mpg on the highway cruising at 70 mph.

I did the upholstery myself using a regular household sewing machine.

I made the center console from plywood then upholstered it with vinyl. The shifter is from a 89 trans am.
