Hey Guys....

Well this is all bad..... I guess the only thing to do now is start re-posting pics of the build!

Second part of the buyer beware... ! The seller advertised this truck as having detroit lockers front and rear! When I got into the diffs, I found that we had a pair of power-loks front and rear :bang:

:thumbdown
yeah, beware. i had a friend bought a built cherokee to do some rock crawlin. supposedly had a detroit out front. got to the first set of rocks and uh oh, no locker in the front. boy was he pissed!

Next big problem to solve..... Previous owner did a real hack job modifying the power steering mount to fit a 78-79 4x4 steering box.

So I will be fabricating new frame rails and a new x-member. What I want to do is fit a new x-member further toward the rear to make room for the A/C pump in it's stock location. Otherwise my options are a top mount unit (might interfere with compound turbos or injection pump) or no A/C :haha

Think I will cut on the white line..... :hump

Found a 1993 Cummins 12 valver for the swap... I will be doing a P-pump conversion to this motor down the road!

Made the standard x-member cut for the swap.... will use a 2.000" offset to the passenger side. Looks like the 69 had closer to a 3.00" offset originally.

Thats a bad time to find out that you don't have one!

So how long have you been working on this project now?
Glad you are keeping us updated.:thumbsup I would have hated not getting to see the outcome.:bang::bang::bang:

Started in July of '07..... so about 18 months! It hasn't been steady though... I was even contemplating selling it at one point! I was just looking to do a motor swap... then one thing kept leading into another. So I'm still at it!

Come he!! or high water this truck will hit the road this summer! She might not be pretty yet, but she will smoke....

I'm getting ready to start one from the ground up. I'm just going to take my time and let it fall together. Looks great and look forward to see it hitting the road.

OK.....

So lets get to the motor mounts and such...... added this plate to tie in mounts and x-member.

Made a x-member template out of wood to get a feel for how I wanted it....

More from the passenger side motor mount...... I just trimed the stock brackets that bolt to the block to fit the bushing.

And now I can cut off both sides of the frame rail forward of the new cross member....
