I have a 1990 f250 diesel, the oil pressure gauge drops to zero when the check engine dummy lght comes on and i also notice the rpm gauge does not stay up it drops to zero as well . What is going on?

Either the cluster feed or ground are more than likely not working correctly.

FYI, you don't have an oil pressure "gauge", you have a swtich and a light with a needle and the letters "NORMAL" on it.... either it shows OP or it does not there is no variation in what it shows.

Usually the tach problem is the tach sensor located on the injector pump gear cover,will probably need replacing.The oil pressure problem my just be the sender.First do an oil pressure check with a gauge(the engine needs to be hot and idling at a min of 750 rpm).The oil pressure needs to be a min of 10 psi to keep the gauge reading in the normal area.good luck.
