As stated in my introduction post I am trying to get this truck to run. My biggest problem is the truck has sat for a lone time. It has sat so long that the fuel has gone bad it has tar in the tanks, lines, filters and every were else in the fuel system. The fuel filters have been replaced or cleaned the fuel lift pump has been replaced the inline check valve from the tank has been replaced all tank vent lines have been cleaned the fuel heater screen has been cleaned and new fuel has been put in the truck after draining the old fuel. The truck would start and run fine up until this week. The owner tried to started the truck after setting for maybe a month and it would not start. He used a rag dipped in gas as a starting aid. The truck started and ran at a high speed from using the gas rag. I know the gas rag is not a good idea. The engine burned the gas fumes and shut down. Along with all of the above checks and changes I made sure fuel was coming form the lift pump to the injector pump and it was. I pulled the return check valve and fuel was going through the pump. I held my finger over the fuel return
hold and used the lift pump primer to build pressure in the injection pump and had no problem with pressure build up. I think the fuel return check valve may be bad. I tried blowing through it and it had a very very slight leak. I am looking for any ideas or suggestions on what I can check or do that may help get this thing going. I don't know if the injector pump has an internal screen that may need to be cleaned or if it would be better to have the injection pump and injectors cleaned since it has sat for so long,$$$ in my area. Thanks in advance for any and all help. If this is the wrong place for this post please bump it to were it needs to be.
