I also beleive the 6.6L is more expensive to make then the 6.5/6.2 which would drive the price way up.

They could have done a lot of diesel engines, but each one is a lot of money to design, develop, etc...

I agree though, a 4 Cylinder diesel Colorado/Canyon would be awesome!

The Isuzu 1.8 was in the Chevette and Luv and 2.2 was in the S-10 IIRC. GM dumped $2B or so into the plant in Thailand to make the new 4 cylinder Diesel. I don't remember the specifics but it was 2-ish liter. I'm sure it will be going into cars, much like the 2.9L VM slated to hit the Caddies.

We just had a debate about which 390 the AMX has in it. Isn't it a Ford 390?

This was the original debate. :haha

My Grandpa was an AMC fan for years. I always thought it was funny there was brand X motor and an AMC version of it. Very little, if any, difference IIRC.

0The vin code "X" is purely AMC, built for racing it came with a crossram intake thats a 4x2 sitting left to right slightly off set not front to back 12.75:1 compression ratio your choice of cam shafts 292* Duration [email protected] lift or 302* duration and [email protected] lift. . .

Currently my cam shaft is the 292*duration [email protected] lift i split the difference with a custom turned Cam :thumbsup

The Ford 390 is an FE big bolck yes the 390 AMC was just considered a 390CI V-8 was no real lable as big or small block. . .

But I would have call it rare and illusive medium blocked engine.
It Rev's like a small block and pulls like a big block.

The 390AMC 4bbl made 68' & 69' 315hp n 425tq 70' & 71' 325hp n 435tq both reved reved to 6 grand, the 69'-71' 390AMC 8bbl made 435hp n 480tq reved to 8 grand. . .

When in stalled in 2,800LB AMX or 3,200LB Javelin with gearing choices of 3.15's n 3.55's Auto trans and 3.55's n 4.44's Manual trans , it would really Rip.

Giving it the ability to run Ford Dodge GM muscle cars. . .tho it was really classified as a Sports car the AMX was, so race the Big 3 on drag strip Friday then race with BMW n benz on the road course Sunday so to speak . . .

My buddy back in HS had an AMX Javelin with a 390 in it. Green metallic exterior and a white "pleather" interior. :haha

Back seat sucked, man that thing could get sideways smoke in a hurry.

My best AMC motor was my 304 V-8 4 barrel in my '78 renegade CJ-7. Chirped the first 3 gears. People wouldn't believe me till they rode in it. :happymugs
