I have the g56/3.73. I suspect the lack of 4.10's w/G56 has more to do with the final drive ratio. From what I came up with, the g56/3.73 makes about 68rfe/4.10 rpm...?
Default is 3.73. 3.42 is an option. I think most G56 trucks are outfitted with the 3.42 because of the .74 final OD ratio.
G56 Manual w/0.74 final drive ratio in 6th gear, 265/70-17 tires, 654 revs per mile @ 70 mph:
3.42 axle -- 1931 rpm at 70 mph
3.73 axle -- 2106 rpm at 70 mph
4.10 axle -- 2321 rpm at 70 mph (combination NOT available -- just for comparison)
6-Speed Automatic w/0.63 final drive ratio in 6th gear, 265/70-17 tires, 654 revs per mile @ 70 mph:
3.42 axle -- 1644 rpm at 70 mph
3.73 axle -- 1793 rpm at 70 mph
4.10 axle -- 1976 rpm at 70 mph
I actually like the g56 alot. No real reason, just fun to drive.
