I did a quick search and could not find what I was looking for. I have an 06 F-350 6.0l and am in the market for some new rubber. I am putting on a 2.5 DR leveling kit next week and tires shall follow. I have been looking into Cooper Discoverer STT's and TOYO Open Country M/t's both of which recommend a 8.5" rim minimum. Will this tires fit on the stock 18"x8" rim without any trouble and what are your opinions on the tires? Will they abnormally wear because of the smaller rim width? From various pictures it looks like it has been done before, but I wanted to make sure first and see whether or not I should look into some rims also. Thanks guys!

That's pretty close. All its going to do is pull the sidewalls together and bulge the center of the tread out when you're properly inflated. You can probably combat this by running a lower pressure, but that will affect MPG and the life of the tires.

Its so close though that i'd almost say just go for it. Rims aint cheap, and I seriously doubt the cost of new rims would be made up for by the little bit longer tire life you're going to get by running the "correct" width.

good luck,
Paul

I do it on my truck in the winter. I have 35x12.5 BFG Mud TAs that are on 18x9's in the summer and on the stock wheels in the winter. No problems at all. So far they have about 45000 miles on them and are wearing great. I do rotate them every oil change
damn, you have 45k on bfg muds??

Yeah I usually get about 50-55k on them and sell them with about 25% tread left. Like I said I rotate them every 3000 miles and keep the truck aligned. The 33's that I ran on my 97 seem to last a little longer than the 35's on my 06. I don't know if I'm going to get 55k out of them and still have enough left to sell them

Should be fine.

I run a 325/60R18 (wider than a 35/12.5) on the stock 18x8s with no issues.

That is awesome. I had BFG muds on my old grand cherokee and loved them, but got sticker shock when i priced a set for the SD.
