Not sure if this have been posted here before or not...but I had a friend email this link.

Very cool....very very cool with the redesign. Goes to show that if you don't think outside the box...somebody will simply take your box away.

I think fords is a V6 tho. Isn't every major 1/2 ton truck maker working on a 4.5 liter V8 or in the proximity of that, diesel. I know Ford is working on a 4.5 V8 for Expeditions and the 150's

I will be glad to see the introduction of a diesel in the 1/2 ton catagory again. GM was the only one to do it in the past, hopefully they will have success this time.

Why has it taken GM so long to come back out with a diesel powered Burb? I drove by what looked like a 3/4 ton Burb the other day and it looked B/A.

About time! Noticed the 'Burban will be the Suburban HD. Wonder what they've added other than the D'max.

I think the Suburban diesel is a GREAT idea and I'll probably buy one, but I truthfully think the 6.6L DMAX belongs in it because the Suburban is so heavy(7-8,000lbs) and can tow a lot (over 12,000lbs). It really needs 350+ HP, not a smaller diesel. It would be great if you could get either one. Base engine 4.5L, optional 6.6L.

I think the 4.5L DMAX would be great in the Tahoe, 1/2 ton pickup etc.

I'm just glad the diesel is making a comeback in 1/2 tons & full size SUV's, so maybe I'll quit complaining. LOL

You may just see that "base, optional" deal in the 2500 Burbs....

I think GM may be planning this engine as an option in all their V8-powered cars/trucks if it turns out as good as they hope.

What intrigues me the most is the way GM "switched" the intake and exhaust around on the heads. The intakes are on the bottom now, the exhaust flows right into the turbo on the top. So simple and obvious, yet never thought of before.

i doubt the power numbers are set this far from production, it's probably closer than i think but they could keep changing it all the way up until they begin advertising it, and i haven't seen any... on a better note, i'd like it, i love my z71, but i'd kill for a diesel, now if i could swap in a manual and a solid axle....

You guys have seen this right?

Note the HD after Suburban and the Duramax badge on the hood.

Here is the story:

now see something like that needs the d-max, if you have a 3/4 tonner you go with the 3/4 ton engine, but in the half tons i can see where the 6.6 would be considered too much by most people (myself excluded) and the 4.5 would make much more sense, if i could get a stock truck that weighed 6grand with the 6.6 d-max i'd be good
