My 4wheel drive seems to be kicking out lately.I will turn the switch to 4 high and it will engage and then aafter a little bit it will be back in 2 wheel drive.I will switch it back itnto 2 and back to 4 and it will engage for awhile again.
Had a similar situation using the hubs in "auto" The system would start off in 4 wheel and then after a few moments would disengage.
My 04 250 has 2 positions on the hubs "auto" and "Lock".
When I went to the "Lock" postiion the 4 wheel worked perfectly.
The point being if you have the dual position hubs check 4 wheel performance in the "lock" position. You may just have a bad vaccuum line or hub seal.
Mine has been in the shop since last Thursday for the same thing. I will let you know when I get it back what they said. It has been doing it for a while and just got pissed off about it the other day when it caused me to get stuck.
