Stay away from ATS. nothing but head aches. Go with suncoast or goerend. I have nothing but suncoast in my dodge tranny and have had very good luck with it. It all comes down to what your doing with the truck to spec it right. once the torque converter fails on my 99 350 dump truck, then I am going to ujpgrade it to a suncoast tc and a towing/hauling valvebody. I have nothing but good things to say about sucoast.

Drive down to Lead Hill, Arkansas.. See Brian at Brians Truck Shop,, the BTS transmission WILL ABSOLUTELY be the last time you have to worry about your transmission, be it from Plowing, Drag Racing, Competition Pulling,,, what ever your doing, he guarantees it,, UNCONDITIONALLY unlimited HP/Torque for two years,,(Which is BS,, cause I have heard of him standing behind them after that too,, on many many occasions)

be modified to "bulletproof" specs? Are they worth the trouble?
HUH?

are what worth the trouble? The Auto trans being modified?
He!! yes if it's done by a good builder, Brian or John Wood are highly respected in this field. If I was a snow plower in the winter I would have NOTHING less than a BTS in there. I know of way too many guys who just budget a new trans every year because they plow,,, the BTS would fix that for sure.:happymugs

See your not the first person to say this BTS statement, but you guys that are promoting him.....need to tell people BTS stands for Brian truck stop...which you did in this post, but others just said BTS, if you google BTS you get the Kalifornia BTS transmission service, which is one reason, I didnt go with Brian or BTS.

http://btstransmission.com/ http://www.brianstruckshop.com/ googled BTS and this is the first 2 that pop up.

Had I know brian was 595 miles away instead of the 2100 miles the Kalifornia BTS is I would have got Brian. Just food for thought.

Jim when guy's are talking....

aftermarket, I assumed a completely new aftermarket drop-in. I didn't realize these shops were pulling and modding stock Ford trans.

The shop you mentioned is waaaay too far away from east central Pa. However, what's the cost on a rebuilt unit from BTS?

A trans from Brian will cost you a little over 4,000. It's been a while since I bought mine, 6 Yrs or more,, (and I think if it went out tomorrow, he would take very good care of me on the fix,, no, I don't think so,, I KNOW so) not sure of the costs now. But it is SOOO worth it. Too bad you don't feel it's a drive you could make. He will ship you one, and take your core back in the casket you get yours in. But if you go there R&R is free,, if you can install it your not out anything except shipping and fluid. But you don't get to meet Brian, and stand right next to him while be builds your trans. And explains everything about his parts, and the ones he throws into the barrel that he takes out of yours. You also miss out on lunch there in Lead Hill on Brian!

You need to call him to get a proper quote of course, http://www.brianstruckshop.com/
