I've seen where folks let their DEF get low and got an 800 or 500 mile range warning. I had better than a half tank of DEF when I got a 500 mile range warning. Just to be sure, I got a 2 1/2 gallon container and started pouring it in. After about 2/3 of the DEF went in, the tank was full. Cranked the truck and I still have the warning. Now I'm down to 463 miles. I have about 265 miles that I need to drive tomorrow while pulling a 16,500 Lb 5th wheel camper. Will the count down be the same as not towing? Any way that I can fool the computer, like puling battery cables for 5 minutes?

Don't know any thing about the Fords but def usage is basically in proportion to diesel usage. so with towing getting less mpg you will use more def per mile. In my Dodge I get ~3,000 to 3,200 miles per 2.5 gal of def. That figures out to 1.25% to 1.5% of def to diesel usage.
Just a thought, could it be a bad def level sensor in the tank????

I'm a little late, but here's a follow up. I cranked the truck the next morning and the message was still there. An hour or so later, when I was ready to back up to the 5th wheel and hook up, I cranked it up and the message was, again, still there. Some time in the next 10 minutes, while I finished getting ready to hit the road, the message went away. I had no issues during my roughly 265 mile trip and the truck ran beautifully, as usual. On another site, some say you should wait until the tank is almost empty to refill it. And, they said this is in the manual. I have to confess that I have not read all of the manual and still have not had the time to do so.

I love my 2015 6.7 so far. It's just now telling me that it needs DEF (500 miles to go) at the 4700 mile mark and I do pull a trailer (about 5k total) with it some.
I never saw any other warning about DEF before now.
