Looking for last min advice for my new adventure i have always liked driving so i figured wat better way than to be a independent contractor...some may frown and some may say good luck there is plenty of money to be made...wat im looking for is all types of advice. I will be headed for Indiana tomorrow morning around 6 to get up there and get a hotel and ready for orientation at 8 Tuesday morning.

Things I have ready:

1. 5th Wheel Husky 16k with slider installed
2. Set of load distribution bars wit the shank and brackets for trailer
3. Full mud flaps that we built this weekend UGLY but will serve purpose for now
4. Fire Extinguisher and set of 3 Triangles
5. Completed DOT physical
6. Marine Deep Cycle Battery with wing nuts
7. 4 way lug wrench and cheater pipe for load bars
8. 26k plates and class E License
9. Electric brake controller
10. 7 way plugs in the bed and on bumper
11. Oil and fuel filter change just done over weekend
12. Brand spanking new tires
13. Installed muffler back on truck
14. Cleaned air filter
15. Overall inspection of ball joints and tie rods and brakes by Dad and I
16. Misc tools for minor break downs
17. Insurance/Bobtail and Physical damage
18. Credit Card for emergencies

If you all have any last min things that i didnt get or cover just let me know trying to do this right. I was going to put stock exhaust back on and egr but going to chance it till i find a diff truck. I know some will say im asking for trouble but some might say ill be fine on this part. I have heard mixed feelings. No matter wat Dot will always find a way to give us a ticket if they choose to. Thanks

Three things come to mind:
1. bottle jack in case the need to jack up axle for changing a flat.
2. Wheel chocks
3. Pair of coveralls in case you need to crawl under the rig and keep you clean and looking professional.

Good Luck

zip ties to hold your liscence plate to the trailer and a pair of wire cutters to get them off. a four way with the earlier mentioned jack will help with tire changes...torque wrench, although i never had any tires come off.

try using sites like uship.com for backhauls....although ive found most people on there want something done for free or just list their item and never return to finish the transaction.

sounds like you got it all covered. goodluck

oh, and dont forget your logbook...and your other logbook with daily inspection forms.

Time to add airbags if you don't already have them :poke. I have a set to use to level out the truck when hooked with a heavy load.
