We are planning to order bigger plunger/barrels for Cat B model, maybe 14mm if they fit the housing without machining. Any US or Canadian pullers/drag racers/power addicts interested? We have to order a minimum of 50 pcs of them, 12 goes to Finland, rest we have to get rid of. Price will be maybe 250 dollars a piece + shipping.

Anyone reading this it's a great deal and price. Til now the biggest we could get in the states was 12.5mm @ $1000 per. Anyone looking at 1000HP build ~ or more ~ better stock pile. 14mm should be good for 1600HP +. I would if I had the money...

Have you got some more details?? , I would prolly be interested in 6

Sending PM.

Hey guys, if this is real, I'll be selling 800 to 1500HP pumps bolt on with advance and timing specs per application for damn cheap (comparably). Let me know if there is any interest there. Mileage can range from 3 to 7.5mpg depend on foot. Will have nozzles to match, also per application :) . Sending PM now...

There is enuf room for a plunger if there is enuf room for the gear on the end. If they have to be machined to offset the scroll gear it won't be cost efficient. I do think it could be done. Controlling it will be different, and nozzle pop must match to hit the bowl right. They will have to be EDM'd as I'll be running between 38 and 42 degress static with a huge advance spring to limit it to 50* at 3600 or so. I have ideas for that tho. Sounds fun. With the money I can break 2000HP too. A goal for some time;)

Is that $250 per plunges/barrel or $250 for all? I maybe interested. Tony I got a set of steel top pistons with less than 80,000 miles on them, are there any nozzles that would match the bowls? Would the larger plungers effect the spray pattern at all? Lenny have you guys already got a set in the B pump? What kind of time frame would we be looking at before you know if its a go.

Electro-mechanical discharge machine. A glorified electric drill that uses a very small heated wire to actually bore a new hole. So you can have 6 holes at 120* and six more at 160*. A dual offset spray pattern. New idea for me. Never been done yet, but easy to do. Should make very hi HP timing easier to accomplish ;)

And I need a piston and pump number to give you a proper fit to your pistons. There's lots a steel tops, and even ones with the same CR can have a different bowl from each other. The idea is always to match the bowl to the nozzle. Spray CCing is second to making swirl.... And it's 250 per, or $1500 a set. Quite a bit cheaper than Great Lakes at $1000 per hole. Hence the idea to make and black paint some HP injection pumps with nothing on it other than my WPD sticker on the fuel rail.

I may have already ruined this thread by replying to Lenny first. Haven't heard a word and we don't get along too famously well. :(

I have to find one stock plunger/barrel to send as an example to the company who makes them, then they will give the final price of them. So that price might change a little bit but not much I believe, it's about the price they make some custom Bosch plungers and Cat shouldn't be much different. They said it takes about 3 months to fabricate them. We also have to make sure that they fit without machining, we want them to be drop in.

We are also planning to let them fabricate some bigger L-10 PT plungers and some Scania/Bosch unit pump plungers.

BTW, how much import taxes you have to pay when buying from Europe? USA to Finland is about 2,5% + value added tax.

some time's if you declare them as gifts customs may just let them pass, or as parts being refurbished ,i would not declare full value, may have some problems, but $ 1,500 is not a very large amount too u.s. customs, just ship ups worldwide or your local postal service. there going too ask what's inside ?

Just today I got a used one without return spring for a model but there is a little bit of confusion: A local Cat dealer pump guy said that there are hundreds of different types of plungers for 3406 engines and he didn't know for what engine this example was. He said some engines have lower lift on the pump cam and plungers for those are longer. I think I must take measurements from that and you can tell me if it's the right one or not. Or maybe I should order a new one to send as an example.

Good thing is these Cat barrels are very thick and 14mm is not a problem, even bigger should be possible but the problem might be the bonnet valve size. I've been a little busy lately but I will make this sooner or later. These might be more complicated to do than Bosch equivalents so the price might go up a little bit but still a lot less than GL and better quality.

I just did some digging, and the return spring and washer are discontinued. They use to be offered as 118-0540 spring and 9Y-2088 washer. The gear is not available separate. The way I understand, they clamp the gear on the plunger first, then cut the scrolls. I'm not sure how you could get the gear timed after they're cut without some kind of fixture.

My take on this project is that it is in its infancy and is going to take quite a while to get off of the ground, The barrel can be bored fairly easily but getting the new plunger clocked to the gear is going to be a lot of tedious work.

No, there are too many variables involved, if it is off just the tiniest bit the cylinder would fire out of phase or imbalanced or...., bosch pumps have external phasing and balancing adjustments(with in reason), the cat B&P it is all in precise and acurate assembly.
