You guys see this comit on banks ad in this months diesel builder?

it says:

DURAMAX LBZ, 06-07
Nobody gives your lbz more power that banks NOBODY

* in test, Banks six guy beat edge juice by 33HP!!

* Six gun Shredded the PPE Programmer, Too, ( wich couldnt be safley tested at its highest levels due to excessive EGT'S. At lower and safe levels, PPE's power was NOWHEREnear its advertised Claims!

The rest of the crap is about edge and limp home modes like all there ad's...

Just wondering what you guys thought about this. Should be interesting to see what PPE has to say.

I think banks as scared to hurt the tranny, so they put the PPE on level 3/10. It is at its advertised claims, and sometimes more. The EGTs are a bit high, but banks is very stuck up

I am just wondering how it could appear in a magazine so quick when they just ran them all at the track 2 weeks ago

Well, thats because Diesel Power magazine is just a Banks infomercial...:kissazz

IMO, Banks is, for lack of a better term, "safe" power. Not for the serious performance enthusiast, as there are better options out there.

I'm curious to see if DP mag will force Nasty and MadDog to wear those silly Banks shirts during the dyno event. Not gonna happen.....

I know I am probably going to get smacked around here...but I purchased the banks six gun because I already had the pda to run it.

I know there are other options out there, PPE Bullydog BD Edge etc. I can tell you this though, it makes really good & clean power and my trans is protected.

You can set the PDA up to watch how much your trans is slipping. Can you do that with just a programmer? I know Banks isn't the answer for everyone, but in my case it was.

Oh and BTW, a friend of mine has an almost identical truck as mine and I mean almost identical, only difference is mine says 3500 and his says 2500 on it. He runs the Edge juice with attitude. We both just came back from MT, only he was towing 3 mountain sleds and a light trailer, I was towing a 6500 lb car trailer with another 3,500 inside of sleds gear etc. He avg'd 13.0 mpg, I avg'd 10.0 running 75 the whole time.

"3.3%
opacity"

suggests to me, heavy users will be destroying the turbo before too long. Everything is a tradeoff.

Look at the "results". Kinda skewed a bit toward the PDA, don't ya think?
I see at least two falacies:

1. "Although the E.T. was comparable to the Banks Six-Gun..." Why doesn't the Testing Data Summary chart include the Edge Juice / Attitude? I wonder how much better the E.T. of the Edge was.

2. "Same truck. Same track. Same day. Same driver." "A minimum of three runs for each product was performed to ensure repeatability." "Both the Edge product and the PPE produced unacceptable shifting characteristics."

Did the Banks folks consider the Allison's adaptive learning feature? If a minimum of three runs were run in each of the eight primary configurations (stock and the seven products), a minimum total of twenty four runs were performed with one vehicle in one day. If the product was changed every third or fourth run, the transmission had insufficient time to adjust to the current tune. In other words, the inconsistent shift charactoristics were likely attributable to the test method itself. :shootself:

PS: Tom's new avatar rules!

well if your going for the burnout, looks like PPE spunn the slicks threw 3ed :)

Some guys here in town say the banks is good, but they dont make all the power, They said on there trucks you could tell it was modified but it wasnt balls out.

I just dont see how they say they ad 300ish lbtq and ppe can add 600lbtw and they run the same... that like saying a Gas 6.0 run as good a modified diesel... or a honda civic feels the same as a viper...

I read the test and think that Banks should have tested on a truck with a built tranny so the full power of PPE and edge could have been tested. Everyone already knows that banks is the safest power. My PPe hot +2 took over a hundred miles until the shifts were smooth, and i am sure they did not let the trans learn the added power. I think it is a classic example of a manufacture making there product out to be the best even though everyone educated on the matter knows otherwise.

:agreed:

If you want safe power, which I did because I can't afford a tranny at this point, Banks is a good option. If you want all out performance there are much better things out there!

EFILive is taylored to the tow tune or the beyond extremist. There is nothing else like it, and it is available on the Diesel Garage, for sale HERE.

I am not knocking Banks, but EFI, with its infinite abilities, has left everything else behind. When you get your transmission, all things become possible without spending one more dime.
