Have a F250 2010 Super Duty. Things kind of didn't work out and didn't get used like I planned. Only has 9000 miles. Showroom condition if you clean off the dirt.
Runs fine but the batteries have those eyeball lense things that change color.
Supposed to be green. Just took it out and looked at the engine and they are looking RED.
Really can't spend 300-400 for a couple of batteries. Should these go bad that quick? 4 years but very little use.
Also doing some checking and finding it difficult to find an exact replacement.

Yes they do go bad after a few years if not used. You can google "battery de-sulfators" for one answer as to why they go bad so soon. Non use is the other reason they go bad. Been there, seen that. Non use is not good for diesels. Fire the truck up once a week and drive it around. This will keep everything lubed and the batteries charged.

Any idea how they are wired up? Are both tied into the entire vehicle system or are they operating different things?

They are wired in Parallel and are hooked to everything. This still gives you 12 vdc but with twice current as a single battery.

I just hooked up a charger. Small one only 6A. It is hooked to one battery.
Am I actually charging both?
Which would be good because they are both low.

Yes you would be charging both batteries. That is what 'hooked in parallel' means. If they were hooked in series ( + to - ) you would get 24 vdc out of the other + and - .

Charged them overnight. Both charged. I am going to start driving more often. Hopefully they stay charged.

Are these the stock batteries? If so they NEED to be changed. Diesels are very hard on batteries. Diesel engines need a lot of cranking amps when starting and this load shortens battery life. Not changing the batteries is the number one cause of problems on these trucks.

Yes they are original. I am going to watch them closely. If they wont stay charged I am going to get new ones.
