I seen a 7.3 yesterday for sale and I stopped and looked her over a little was a really clean truck for only $8500 so I called the guy it has 340k on a stock motor and injectors. The tranny is out of a 6.0 he said with 80k on it,it has a new HPOP and the fuel system was just cleaned, new tires..... oh yeah and its a 4x4 crew cab. This sounds like to good of a deal to be true to me?! I've already got a 7.3 but a second one for that kind of price it would seem dumb not to go hit my banker up. So my 2 questions are is it actually possible that it has a 6.0 tranny (which would be a huge bonus) and is 340k to many miles for $8500?

Is it a stick shift or auto? Anything is possible, so yes it's conceivable that the torqueshift tranny is behind a 7.3, but that would mean there is a separate computer in the truck to run the transmission programming since the 7.3 PCM can't do it.

If there's no computer added to handle the tranny, then crawl underneath it and I bet the tranny looks just like your 4R100 in your 7.3 (because that's what it is). As for price, if the guy is making up stories about the transmission, don't trust anything else he says.

I've actually met several people face to face claiming they had a Torqueshift from a 6.0L behind their 7.3L's. Not one of them was telling the truth. Most of them knew almost nothing about these trucks, and were claiming to repeat what their trans builder told them.

It can be done, but it takes a special adapter plate and a PCS box. Pretty easy to spot if you're actually looking at the truck.

Bottom line is, if it sounds too good to be true, it likely is. REALLY pays to know yer stuff, as well.. (know what yer lookin at).

I have a 6.0 converter in mine, way better than the 7.3 converter.

I know they make an adapter to put a cummins in a superduty but I've never seen an adapter to put a 5R110 bhind a 7.3. Alot of guys do the tranny cooler mod though so I think hayjay is on to something
