What are you guys doing about that darn light I have a 12v in an 04 SD and don't like the check engine light on all the time, plus it will not pass inspection with it glowing. I have pulled the guage cluster, I was hoping it was one of the replaceable lights but it is not it is a tiny soldered LED light. Can I just heat it up and pull the light or just break it. I don't want it to cause any other problems with the dash.

Thanks for the help.

hey man havent heard from you in a while.glad to hear you got her up and running.are you uses a ford or dodge alternator?ive heard if you run the ford it wont throw a code;if not id just heat it up and pull it out instead
that is completely false, the light is on because the engine is missing, the alt has it's own light if this is what you are talking about then you are right.

I pulled the fuse to turn the light off.

chasewhite05- I am still here just took the hollidays off from the build. It is all together I just need to get the tranny issues fixed. I am using the ford alt and it is/was the check engine light.

cattlepuller- How is the tape working did you put it on the back of the panel?

To fix my light problem I just put 3v to the LED and it popped, the rest of the guage cluster is working fine.

i completly understand 04lariat its been far too cold for me to start my build but ive been having issues with my v10 so i may pull it out here soon and do the swap.i thought that there was a way to bypass the check engine light so you could still use a code reader but maybe thats for the 24 valve and cr motors

Not much need for a code reader on a 12v.
