hey there everybody I got 01 f-550 engine light comes on when on strain going up little or reg hill . still has plenty power but come to stop light sometimes it just dies and then no start and then sometimes it starts hard but starts when idling light go off.when cold starts when hot sometimes hard start sometimes not please help do not know much about diseal trying to learn thank you:

I responded in the other thread you posted in, and I'm copying and pasting that info here with the code info.

P1209 Injection Control System Pressure Peak Fault

P1211 ICP Not Controllable - Pressure Abow/Below Desired
These are not fuel pressure related. There is no pressure sensor on the fuel system on a 7.3 to measure fuel pressure and generate these codes.

They are high pressure oil system related. Just as described in the old posts in the other thread you found with the search function. And like in those posts, we need a bit more info. Are you chipped? How many miles? Stock/original injectors? Stock/original IPR and HPOP?

F-550s have hard lives, they are usually loaded down or towing all te time, and they are geared so that on the highway they are turning 2700rpm at 70 in overdrive. The long term high rpm use under heavy loads is like an F-250 or F-350 running 2x-4x as many miles as your odometer shows. If the truck has never had injectors or major HPO system repairs or service, these items are likely worn out, with the injectors needing more oil than fresh stock parts and the HPOP and IPR underperforming and failing to supply adequate oil volume resulting in your low pressure codes.

thanks reply on 01 f-550 7.3 powerstroke I don't know if it has a chip but I replaced HPOP,IPR VALVE NOT REBUILD WHOLE NEW IPR.ALL INJECTORS,ICP,PLUG ON ICP,SENSOR IN BACK OIL RESORVIOR,HIGH PRESS FUEL PUMP,SENDING UNIT IN TANK,AND TRUCK HAS 232546 MILAGE USE IT FOR TOWING ,FLATBED

I'm going to keep to answering just one thread.

I would do a simple test and put a gauge on the truck to check the actual oil pressure on the low pressure system. It sounds like you may have a tired LPOP, and that would hurt supply to the HPOP when the engine is hot.

Just because the oil pressure light isn't on or the gauge shows pressure doesn't mean that it's really enough pressure. The gauge and light are actually run off a switch, not a sender, and the oil pressure switch turns the light off and makes the gauge register pressure at anything over 5psi.

The pressure switch for the gauge in in top of the HPOP reservoir. You can check the pressure there.

with gauge 45 psi cold start let idle for hour dropped down to 19psi cut motor off try restart not happen gauge had 8 psi cranking over started with starting fluid please help

LPOP is not making enough pressure to feed the engine and the HPOP reservoir during cranking when hot. Remove the LPOP and inspect it for wear. There are clearances available to measure the pump and determine if it is go or no-go. The LPOP is directly behind the balancer on the front of the engine. New pumps are available from Melling, Ford, International and probably others, I've seen others recommend Melling for this application, I've used them for over 20 years. Be sure to check the front timing cover for excess wear too, If there are any grooves in the machined areas wear the pump gears move, the front cover will need replacement.

Again, these are F-450/550 problems because of lots of highway rpm meaning more cycles on the parts in the same miles as a F-250/350. Just by gearing alone, a truck with 4.88 gears will turn the crankshaft 31% more than a 3.73 truck. A truck with 5.13 gears it's 38% more. If a 7.3 spent 100,000miles in overdrive with a 3.73 gear and a 32" tire it would turn 29,000,000 revolutions, 235k is about 68.2 MILLION revolutions, not counting all the time spent in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears where the engine turns far more revolutions per mile, likely enough that a 235k mile 7.3 F-250/350 with 3.73 gears has probably spun the crankshaft close to 90 million times in it's bearings. That means an F-450/550 with 4.88 gears will have closer to 120 Million cycles on the engine. Make sense that the oil pump can wear out?

On the same note, F450/550 trucks with 4.88/5.13 gears should have their oil changed on lower mileage and hours schedules than 3.55/3.73/4.10 geared trucks.

Going to try that Sunday morning sur hope that's the problem tired of spending money and not being fixed local mech shop has not been able to do anything for me sorry about bothering you just need flatbed back on road so can make money up I put out

Hey, advice is free, and the few of us on here that have these trucks usually try to help each other to the best of our knowledge. I've got plenty of years in automotive and it turns out I've got more ahead of me if I want to continue. So don't be sorry. Ask what you need to know, and if I can't help you I'll tell you, otherwise I'll help you understand the basic steps if take to get to the bottom of a problem. And you'll find I usually try to be precise and detailed to save you the extra posts and trouble of not getting a full understanding from what I'm trying to relay.
