went out today to start the beast, turned over longer then normal, gave a few romps and died, started again and it romped a couple of times smoothed out and ran normal. It was cold last night about 8F is this normal with these trucks in cold weather? I did not have it plugged in.

Yes, I'd say nothing to worry about. In cold weather good batterys are important for proper glow plug opperation. You might want to load test them at some point, but I've had the same experiance in the cold.

That could be normal for your truck, a worn out GPR, or simply in need of fresh high-quality oil of the correct viscosity.
