I have a 1999 2500. Sometimes when I set the cruise control, it keeps accelerating. Sometimes it works properly, and sometimes it will work for a several miles and then just begin accelerating on its own. When it starts accelerating, it won't stop until I hit the brakes or turn it off. Anyone else have this problem or know what to do to fix this problem?

Check for error codes first thing...

Clockspring problem in the steering column...

Sticky button on the steering wheel...

Wiring issue short to ground or to power...

You got a vacuum Controller too you might have a sticky valve...

Is your truck an automatic or manual transmission? Automatics with cruise control will keep you at a constant speed, where as trucks with a manual transmission will keep you at a constant rpm.
