I’m at a point where my engine is in need of a inframe and injector set something fierce. While in the process I’m going to swap out my direct drive fan for a fan clutch, my log manifold for a new style pulse manifold, and my turbo for a ht60. I’m going to get new fuel lines (I think they are original to the truck, 39 years old!) and have my pump rebuilt and turned up a bit. I don’t really have the time or money to do a out of frame rebuild. Will the stock bottom end with new bearings, sleeves, rings and pistons hold up fine with a little more fuel and air? Info on these bc1 engines is fairly scarce, not much is out there. Also if anyone can think of something I should do while in the middle of inframing the old gal I’m all ears.

Not very up on Cummins 855's anymore and without knowing for sure how much you already have it turned up it is kinda hard to say for sure. An 855 is a tough forgiving old motor. From my experience with them when I was a kid you will burn it down or blow the heads off of it long before the bottom end decides to relocate. Assuming you keep bearings rolled in it between 100 and 200k miles. Speaking of bearingws, you should most likely do the cam bearings while it is down. You don't want to get that bottom end all nice and tight and then spin a cam bearing and ruin the block and likely the crank. My cousin learned that one the hard way with a 444.

If you're not too far into this rebuild it to a later 400 cpl. It will have a lot lower timing and should live longer and be a better all around engine. You will just need to find someone who has the tools to do the timing on these since they are jig timed.
