Ok, here's the deal. My 07 classic crew cab long bed diesel has lost brakes and steering at the same time twice now. im not kidding both at same time twice

this morning heading out of my driveway the steering and brakes went and i slammed into a hill at end of driveway. Has been in shop for this problem once, dealer said they knew of this issue and said replacing the power steering pump cures the problem. they changed pump with a different part number they said was a redesign to fix the issue. it didnt. im afraid to drive the truck might kill self, family or god forbid innocent driver on highway what do i do even if they say they fixed it i'll never know till the brakes and steering go out again. Anyone heard of this problem? What should i do?

First, you call GM customer service and open a service history document. Your truck is under warranty, use it for all it's worth.

Second, you should drop the truck off at the dealer immediately and request a loaner until they fix the problem completely. If you're afraid it's not safe to drive, have it hotshotted to the service department for safety's sake.

I don't doubt you had this problem, but if this problem was widespread, there'd be a national campaign or recall on these trucks.

I hope this isn't an issue with mine. I'll shove that truck as far up that service department as it'll fit.

GM power steering pumps arent the best. That being said, there is something else going on thats causing the entire system to fail. Do like the above guys said...use your warranty and push GM to find the root cause. Could be you need a whole new hydroboost assy.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Like everyone else has said. Its hard to regain that lost confidence when this kinda thing happens, my 6.0 litre did this thing where it would just shut off no power steering, brakes, engine died, ect. That was some scary shiat but it was due to some chaffing of ecm wires which shorted the electrical, dam near shorted my life. Anyways good luck & be careful no going down windy grades until you get this sorted out. Keep us posted
