I just filling up with fuel and flipping over VERY quick. Than just starting. After two-tree burbse it resume to work properly.:wiggle
Would a check engine light be a 164?While youre at it clean the rock catcher. Its a prefilter that has a plastic filter bowl just before the spin on filter. The screen is reusable if its not dammaged. Clean everything with some brake cleaner and your good to go, make sure the O ring on the bowl is in good shape. Also replace the O ring on the Quick connect fitting where the fuel line plugs into the filter housing the O rings tend to hammer flats spot over time and eventualy sucks air into the fuel systeme Cost abbout one or two bucks at Carquest or NAPA, but save you allot more. You do not have to replace the whole quick connect fitting unless its dammaged. A zip tie to keep it snug will work wonders and will reduce the hammering on the O ring.
DT 466 engines have HEUI injectors Do not start the truck with dry injectors things will quickly get very expensive, if you destroy your injectors . :bang
Trust me on this, My rush was a $1,500.00 screw up.
Like victor said prefill the filter.
Also, you should have a small hand pump primer near the filter kinda looks like a shotgun shell you push this untill it gets hard to push then bleed the air from the schrader valve it it looks like a small tire stem valve and it should have a cap on it. This will take time to do so dont be in a rush, do this untill the fuel has no more air in it. You might need to turn the plastic part about 1/4 to 1/2 turn counter clockwise or left, and be genttle you can dammage it if too heavy handed then to re seat it when done push down and turn clockwise or right.
If this dosent work, You will need a good batery charger for the following process, unplug the injector harness where it passses into the valve cover. Then crank the engine a few seconds, get out and bleed the air off and repeat untill no more bubbles apear just like bleeding brakes. After you have fuel with no air plug in the harness and start the truck let idle for a few minuites before road testing.
If you do the crank method you will have a check engine light and need to clear the codes or have a shop do it if disconnecting the batery for a few minuites dosent do the trick.
Fairly easy just take your time.

Doesn't it have a primer hand pump?Stupid question but I've never done this before...I've got a 2002 IH 4300 with a dt466 and need to change fuel filter a d cannot figure out how to prime fuel system back up...oh, it's got the upside down spin on filter on it....any feed back would be greatly appreciated.....thx
