Sounds like they're gauging public opinion again on it. It'd be sweet if they did make it, and it would probably force Ford/Dodge to follow suit if it's a big success. Here's hoping!

GM-Diesel's aren't all that great :read

They have improved a great deal and are turning some sweet power number's, But I still don't see them lasting as long as a Cummins will :thumbsup IMO . . .

:haha From what i hear the 7.8L D-Max had a hard time hitting 350K miles in a 33k GVWR truck :read The 6.4/7.3-PSD & 5.9/6.7-CTD seem to do it routinely :thumbsup . . .

I think the 4.5L D-Max is a wonderful idea GM just needs to quit thinking stop tlaking and start building :woohoo

Probably quite a few kodiaks and TopKicks out there with 6.6L duramaxes with 500k miles, just because you havn't heard of it doesnt mean that they dont exist Mike

The 4.5 is going to be an amazing motor, GM just needs to pull up their socks and start putting them into things, like Pick-ups, Suburbans, and even the Camaro..... a 350/600 Camaro that gets 30mpg.... wouldnt that surprise the heck out of a lot of peopleopcorn

I'm sure it all "could" have happened but ya see here is the thing the 7.3/6.4 & 5.9/6.7 have done it so often the majority of the planet has seen it done :thumbsup

The D-max is a great engine i didn't say it wasn't makes good power too, Until D-max's reporting 500K miles start becoming a routinely done thing i'll remain skeptical of its abilities to run with IHC & Cummins sorry . . . No malice intended . . .
